Kathleen Corcoran is bringing to Elaine’s her new book of essays, “Northern Notes”

Meet the Author: Kathleen Corcoran started out as a reporter for WISM radio in Madison, Wisconsin. She covered everything from local politics to Groundhog Day. While living in the Bay Area, she wrote a wine column. And when she moved to DC, she wrote policy speeches. She interviewed university students in the former Soviet Union, where she learned the joys of cold vodka and warm Ukrainian hospitality. She has written on topics related to IT, law, legal education, public policy, religion, and healthcare. She won a Telly Award for Community Renewal, a short documentary she co-produced with John Roach Projects. Her first book, “Letter by Post,” is a poetry collection of Haiku. Currently, she writes for The Zebra, and teaches creative writing to senior citizens. “Northern Notes” is her second book.

About Northern Notes, Kathleen explains: The title was inspired by the last essay in the book: “Oh, Canada!” It is a love letter from someone in a border state who feels a deep kinship with Canada. The book was inspired by events, both parochial and global, from 1960 to today. Musings on subjects as various as bread, pagan babies, and modern manners find a place in this colorful kaleidoscope.
